Emergency Response

The overall goal of the Emergency Response is to ensure MERF’s capacity in purposefully supporting the national and provincial government(s) to plan and timely execute a well- coordinated, effective and impactful response which is meant to prevent, lessen and mitigate the harmful impact of any disaster, crises and emergency on affected communities in Pakistan.

The prioritization of MERF during emergency response areas is as follow:

  • Integrated services delivery – with in health sector and among health, nutrition, WASH and child protection, provision of CASH, Food and Non Food Items.
  • In a humanitarian emergency, MERF provides emergency relief and healthcare, psychosocial support, temporary schools and cash grants to help families rebuild their lives.
  • MERF is ready to mobilize within hours of natural disasters like droughts, earthquakes and floods to help families to access food, clean water, sanitation facilities and hygiene promotion services.
  • In humanitarian settings, safeguarding risks diversify and multiply – and affected children and adults are at increased risk of neglect, abuse, and sexual exploitation.
  • MERF ensures the application of gender equality and prevention of sexual abuse, exploitation and harassment in its response programs.
