MERF (Medical Emergency Resilience Foundation) actively took part in the “CSO Capacity Building Workshop on HPV Vaccine Introduction and Routine Immunization” held in Islamabad. The workshop was organized by Jhpiego with support from GAVI, in coordination with Federal and AJK EPI.
Representatives from MERF joined their implementing partners in AJK — CSP and ACT International — to strengthen collective efforts for the introduction of the HPV vaccine and the improvement of routine immunization practices.
The workshop served as a platform for knowledge sharing and capacity building, enabling Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to play a stronger role in raising awareness, addressing misconceptions, and ensuring effective community outreach regarding HPV vaccination across the seven target districts of AJK.
MERF reaffirmed its commitment to working alongside its partners to support HPV vaccine introduction campaign scheduled from 15th to 27th September in 4 regions i.e. Federal Capital, AJK, Punjab, and Sindh. During the campaign, adolescent girls aged 9–14 years will be vaccinated by EPI vaccinators with WHO-approved vaccines proven effective in preventing cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases. Globally, this vaccine has already been introduced in 144 countries, including Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Through joint efforts with CSP, ACT International, and other stakeholders, MERF remains dedicated to strengthening public health initiatives that protect communities and build resilience against preventable diseases — now extending its efforts to include HPV vaccination under this important campaign.
