MERF Organizes Two-Day Training on Climate Smart Agriculture in Sukkur
Medical Emergency Resilience Foundation (MERF), with financial support from Scatec and its energy partners, and in close coordination with the Agriculture Extension Department, Sukkur, organized a two-day training on Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices and technologies.
The training was led by Deputy Director Agriculture, Saleh Pat, along with MERF field team, and was attended by 55 farmers from the region.
During the sessions, participants gained insights into climate change—its causes, impacts, and implications for livelihoods—and learned about adaptation strategies and modern farming techniques to improve productivity and resilience. Key topics included:
- Importance of soil testing and land preparation
- Selection of drought-tolerant and early maturing seed varieties
- Fertilizer use and farmyard manure production
- Efficient water management and agroforestry practices
- Gender inclusion in agriculture
The training was designed to be interactive and participatory, encouraging dialogue between farmers and experts. It also helped strengthen linkages between local farmers and government line departments, promoting long-term collaboration for sustainable agricultural development.
