MERF Efforts to Tackle Malnutrition Appreciated by Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

A delegation from MERF met Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi at Governor House Peshawar, comprising Program Manager Benazir Nashonuma Program Niaz Muhammad, Provincial Program Manager Dr. Abdul Basit, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Liaison Manager Akmal Khan.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the performance of Benazir Nashonuma Program centers operating across the province, services being provided to malnourished mothers and children, and measures to improve public access to nutrition and health facilities.

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa appreciated the role of MERF in addressing malnutrition in the province and emphasized the need to establish additional Benazir Nashonuma Centers in various districts to facilitate more deserving families.

On the occasion, the Governor also presented a certificate of appreciation to MERF in recognition of MERF’s outstanding performance and contributions toward improving maternal and child nutrition services.

MERF, in collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP) and Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), is actively working across Pakistan to combat malnutrition and improve the nutritional status of pregnant and lactating women as well as young children. Through Benazir Nashonuma Centers established in multiple districts, the organization is providing nutrition screening, specialized nutritional support, awareness sessions, and counseling services to help build a healthier and safer future for vulnerable communities.
