Free Eye Surgical Camp Successfully Organized at DHQ Hospital Wana, South Waziristan
The Free Eye Surgical Camp at DHQ Hospital Wana has successfully organized provided much-needed eye care services to the local population in association of local welfare organization WAWA. A significant number of patients are being registered, screened, and treated by dedicated medical teams comprising experienced ophthalmologists, surgeons, and healthcare professionals. The camp aims to improve access to quality eye care services for underserved communities in the area, with a particular focus on early diagnosis, surgical interventions, and preventive care.
Comprehensive arrangements have been put in place to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the camp. These include patient facilitation services, medical equipment availability, operational support, and coordination mechanisms to manage patient flow and provide timely care in a safe and organized environment. The initiative reflects a strong commitment to strengthening healthcare accessibility and addressing the growing need for specialized medical services in remote areas.
DHQ Hospital Wana is being managed by Medical Emergency Resilience Foundation (MERF) under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) for Health model, with the support of KP Health Foundation. Through this partnership, MERF continues to facilitate the provision of essential healthcare services at the hospital, including primary and secondary healthcare, diagnostic services, emergency medical care, hospital waste
management, and human resource development initiatives aimed at strengthening the overall healthcare system in District South Waziristan. Eye OPD received 1,202 patients and a total of 208 surgeries performed in efficient manner throughout all three days. Patients expressed high satisfaction regarding the quality of medical services and arrangements provided. The efforts and dedication of the hospital administration MERF management, and WAWA are highly appreciated for the successful execution of this humanitarian healthcare initiative.
