Every Second Matters: MERF’s healthcare teams saving lives

In a remarkable demonstration of teamwork and quality emergency care, the dedicated medical team at Type D Hospital Bazar Zakhakhel, District Khyber, successfully managed a critical high risk delivery, saving the lives of both mother and newborn.

The delivery was led by Dr. Rubina, Dr. Ammara, and LHV Salma, who responded swiftly when a fully meconium stained baby was delivered without a cry, heartbeat, or spontaneous breathing, a severe case of birth asphyxia requiring immediate intervention.

Working seamlessly together, the Nursing Staff, Anesthesia Technician Mr. Shehzad, and LHV Salma initiated neonatal resuscitation according to standard clinical protocols. Their rapid, coordinated response successfully revived and stabilized the newborn.

This life saving intervention reflects the commitment, professionalism, and collaboration of the hospital team in delivering quality maternal and newborn healthcare, even in challenging and remote settings.
