Complex Myomectomy Successfully Performed at Government General Hospital Nishtarabad Peshawar
A 28-year-old unmarried woman was admitted to the Gynecology Outpatient Department at Government General Hospital Nishtarabad Peshawar with complaints of heavy menstrual bleeding and chronic abdominal pain that had been affecting her quality of life for a prolonged period.
Following a detailed clinical assessment and ultrasound examination, she was diagnosed with multiple uterine fibroids of varying sizes. The extensive number and distribution of fibroids posed a significant surgical challenge, particularly considering the patient’s young age and future fertility concerns.
After careful counseling and evaluation, the medical team planned a fertility-preserving surgical intervention. A complex Myomectomy was successfully performed by Consultant Gynecologist Dr. Samreen at Government General Hospital Nishtarabad, Peshawar.
During the procedure, approximately 50 fibroids of different sizes were meticulously removed while successfully preserving the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. The surgery was completed successfully without compromising the patient’s reproductive organs, reflecting both advanced surgical expertise and patient-centered care with limited resource.
The patient recovered well after surgery and experienced significant relief from her symptoms. This case highlights the importance of timely diagnosis, specialized gynecological care, and fertility-preserving surgical management for women suffering from complex fibroid disease.
This successful outcome demonstrates the commitment of the gynecology team at Government General Hospital Nishtarabad to providing high-quality healthcare services and advanced surgical care for women of Peshawar and its surrounding areas.
Government General Hospital Nishtarabad Peshawar, managed by Medical Emergency Resilience Foundation (MERF) with the support of KP Health Foundation, is ensuring the provision of quality healthcare services and advanced medical care to underserved communities.
